JACINDA PHILLIPS
Licensed Massage Therapist, Counselor
Massage is amazing! It is a highly effective healing tool that can connect us with the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves, regardless of the primary focus.
My love of massage is maybe best summed up by a client quote:
"I always feel like I come home to myself when I get a massage".
When I see my clients experience relief from pain and feel more at ease in their bodies, it inspires me and feeds my passion for this work.
Born and raised in Australia, I discovered massage when I moved to Portland. I completed my training at East-West College of Healing Arts and became board certified by summer of 1999. Since then, my focus has become Traditional Thai Massage which is performed on a mat on the floor with the client fully clothed. I also offer a more classic massage on the table. My table work blends Thai techniques with deep tissue and Swedish styles, creating a deeply rejuvenating, relaxing, and long lasting experience.
Away from the mat and table I am parenting while navigating the pending empty nest with my husband, hanging out with our dogs, playing with horses, hiking, knitting, reading, spending time with friends, and playing games. I also love doing jigsaw puzzles when I can. I look forward to meeting you!

Traditional Thai Massage is the physical therapy branch of Traditional Thai Medicine. It uses multiple tools to achieve integration and balance within the body. Depending on the individual’s needs, techniques incorporated into a session may include deep compression, working the channels and points along the body, passive stretching, cupping, and scraping (gua sha). Benefits include deep restoration of well-being, reinvigoration of overall energy, improved circulation and flexibility, increased range of motion in the joints, relief from acute and/or chronic pain, as well as assisting in injury recovery.
Thai massage is performed on a mat on the floor and both the client and therapist wear loose, comfortable clothing*. I recommend non-slippery pants (to the ankle) and a long-sleeved shirt. I also recommend layering as body temperature can decrease during a session.
*important note: please do not wear shorts or skirts. Thank you!

For those who are seeking a more gentle, nurturing approach, my relaxation Thai massage is modified to provide an incredibly relaxing, rejuvenating and deeply healing experience while still retaining its therapeutic qualities.

Blending traditional western massage techniques with my in-depth Thai massage studies, I provide a comprehensive deep tissue treatment on the table. We can address general and/or spot specific problem areas, injuries, adhesions, muscle spasms, pain, and tightness. I begin with warming superficial tissue and then gradually target deeper muscular/tendinous structures while always working within your comfort level and searching for the therapeutic edge where the most effective healing occurs.

Swedish massage is famous for its long, soothing strokes and gentle kneading. I love engaging in this work when my clients need to simply be with their bodies, receive nurturing touch, calm their nervous systems, relax their muscles, reassure their hearts, and quiet their minds. The sessions impart a tangible sense of energy flowing through the body, deep relaxation, and connection with self.

Both cupping and scraping have been used by humans for hundreds of years! The basic purpose is to draw out toxins from within the body. In the realm of bodywork, it helps to break up fascial adhesions, increase blood flow to muscle/tendon tissue, decrease muscle tension and inflammation, and bring pain relief. These tools can be brought to any session.
