The last few months have whizzed by in a wave of exciting new developments for Portland Healing Space! We have been adding to our team, rejuvenating the space and giving back to the community in the process. Here is a brief update on all the buzz because we have been such busy bees during the spring.
We at Portland Healing Space are so lucky to have fantastic neighbors. Together we form a community built upon mutual support. Recently we collaborated with our neighbor across the street, Colorhouse, on giving our chiropractic room a new look.
A brief consultation with the folks at Colorhouse helped us pick the perfect shade of blue to launch a full-on room makeover. Our favorite color was Colorhouse Water .01. We chose it to create a relaxing energy and brighten up the space. The room looks amazing, especially when combined with new art hand-curated by Dr. Jenna Ramji. Stop by and check out our new look in person!
Our takeaway from this collaboration? Teaming up with Colorhouse gave us yet another way to be eco-friendly in our business practice. For those of your unfamiliar with Colorhouse, this paint company uses sustainable practices to manufacture, package and distribute quality paint. Along with their low environmental impact, all of their paints are quick-drying, self-priming and have no VOC or toxic fumes. Thanks so much to Colorhouse for brightening our neighborhood!
In the first week of May, Portland Healing Space headed to Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) to provide care for some of our most important nurturers: ICU nurses. These incredible folks fill a crucial role that benefits us all. Portland Healing Space practitioners spent several days providing chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage, facials and more. It’s our practice to give back to the community. Thank you, OHSU, for honoring your own during Nurses Week. Thank you, nurses, for your hard work year round!
It’s easy for caregivers to overlook their own self care in the face of so many responsibilities. In fact we all need to take time in our daily routine to be kind and giving to ourselves. At Portland Healing Space, many of our practitioners create a reminder or block out time in their calendar to replenish their energy.
Don't forget – any day is a good day to thank a nurse for their service!
The Portland Healing Space Self Care Challenge
To welcome the spring, we challenged you and your friends to pamper yourself for our Self Care Challenge. We asked people to participate by doing some kind of self care – that is, anything that makes you feel good, inside or out. Then we asked people to post a picture on Facebook or Instagram of their self-care. It could be a healthy meal, a snapshot from a walk in the park, a post-massage selfie or a new manicure – anything that makes you feel warm and fuzzy! Along the way, we posted our own ideas and inspiration to get the ball rolling. Then we asked you to use the our hashtag, #PHSSelfCareChallenge and tag a friend to share the love. In the end, we saw all kinds of self-love from participants all around the world: gorgeous hikes, yoga with furry friends, luscious bubble baths, and many tasty meals. As an added bonus, we gave out some pretty awesome prizes to three randomly selected winners to continue the joy of pampering!
Didn't get a chance to participate? Don't worry! As seasons change, we’ll be hosting new challenges to inspire a little indulgence and cultivate a community that celebrates and practices acts of self-kindness. The Self Care Challenge encourages us to all be better to ourselves, for ourselves.
